THE 5TH GENERATION PROJECT BEGAN IN DECEMBER 1988. IT LED UP TO THIS VEHICLE... THE FIRST C5 IN 1997... SERIAL NUMBER 00001. UNTIL C5 ALL FIRST PRODUCTION CARS WERE WHITE.

A PERFECTLY CAMOFLAGED C5. NEW 1995 CAMAROS WERE FITTED WITH C5 SIDE RAILS, A CENTRAL TUNNEL AND THEN GEN III ENGINES WERE INSTALLED. THIS ALLOWED TESTING OF C5 WITHOUT RAISING INTEREST.

THE C5 STRUCTURE WAS PLACED ON A C4 CHASSIS FOR TESTING... NOTE THE C4 EXHAUST. ONE PHASE OF THE DESIGN PROCESS HAD A SLIGHT DIP IN THE REAR DECK BETWEEN THE TAILLIGHTS... NOTE THE DOUBLE BUBBLE.

LATE IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND TEST DRIVING PROCESS, C5's WERE HEAVILY CAMOUFLAGED TO THROW OFF SPY PHOTOGRAPHERS.
NOTE THE COVERED DOOR PANELS AND THE FRONT AND REAR BRA'S WITH SMALL LIGHT HOLES.
